Overhead signal pole also known as mast arm pole is used to mount the traffic signal heads in a signalized intersection. Mostly 200 mm pedestrian signal heads are mounted on the lower part of the mast arm pole, 300 mm signal heads are mounted on the upper part of the mast arm pole.
Traffic signal poles are produced with hot dip galvanized and it is resistant to corrosion. Cylindrical iron pipe in 139 x 5 mm, 114 x 4 mm, 89 x 4 mm dimensions used as iron type. The height of overhead signal pole is 6 m. It is compatible with TS 301/2 Turkish Directorate of Highways standards. A hole is opened to make electrical connections directly on it and closed with a cover. There are 8 pieces of M16 screw, 4 pieces of M8 screw, 2 pieces of M6 inox screw and 1 piece of side cover are placed on mast arm pole. Upper part of the mast arm pole is installed with M16 screws. Overhead pole connection apparatus is used to mount 300 mm signal head.
The main purpose of overhead signal pole is to warn the drivers from far distance by mounting the signal heads to the upper part. In this way, 300 mm vehicle signal heads are mounted to upper part because it is more visible than other traffic signal heads.
