Omega pole is also called as “Traffic Sign Pole”, “Galvanised Traffic Pole”, “Galvanised Omega Profile Traffic Sign Pole” and so on. Traffic sign is mounted on omega pole by screws. It is coated with hot-dip galvanized method. Omega poles are used for providing traffic and road safety.
Omega poles can be manufactured in desired height and length. Frequently used omega pole types are; 2 mt omega pole, 2.5 mt omega pole, 3 mt omega pole, 3.5 mt omega pole, and 4 mt omega pole. The thickness of omega poles can be changed according to the application. The types of omega poles according to their thickness are; 3 mm omega pole, 4 mm omega pole and 4 mm omega pole. Omega poles according to their expansion are; 136 mm expansion omega pole, 139 mm expansion omega pole, 149 mm expansion omega pole, and 170 mm expansion omega pole. The holes on the omega pole which is used to mount the traffic signs are 9-10 mm in diameter and the distance between holes are 20 mm from their center. Usually, there are 120 pieces of holes on 4 mt omega poles, 110 pieces of holes on 3.5 mt omega poles, 90 pieces of holes on 3 mt omega poles, 70 pieces of holes on 2.5 mt omega poles, 40 pieces of holes on 2 mt omega poles.
The raw sheet material used in the production of omega poles must conform to EN 10025 standard. Before the galvanizing process, omega pole should be smooth. The galvanizing process should be complied with EN ISO 1461. After the galvanizing process, no mechanical operation should be performed on the omega pole. Galvanized surfaces should be smooth. Make sure that the holes should not be blocked on galvanized parts. The zinc should not be freezing like drops. The thickness of the Galvanized coating should be in accordance with EN ISO 2178 standard. The measured value should be at least 55 Micron and the average of all should be at least 70 microns.
After the omega poles fixed to the ground, traffic and road safety products like traffic signs, solar warning signs with LEDs, signaling lamps, traffic safety mirror can be mounted. The mounting holes on omega poles allow mounting more than one product or traffic sign.
Omega poles are used in urban roads, municipality boundaries, expressways, university campus, residential areas, car parking areas and so on. The cost of the omega pole is more affordable than other traffic signal poles. Also, it is very easy to install and long lasting.
